So… this last month, I realized that every continent has had a theme for me. In the Carribean it was light, in Asia it was love, in Africa it was God’s pursuit of man and this continent (Europe) is redeemed.
It has been interesting to go through the Bible and see how these all tie together. Hosea has been an awesome book that ties all these together and while in Swazi I wrote the following poem.
Hosea 2:14 (In the Desert Place)
I walk through
this desert place
scared, hurt and so alone.
Disillusioned.
How did I wander
so far from home?
Remembering…
the lavished life I lived
when I walked beside You.
You loved me more
than anyone
can ever do.
But I chose
to abandon You,
to leave our love behind.
I cursed You.
I lied and cheated.
I was anything but kind.
There is no way
You would take me back
after all I did.
These acts
that I’ve commited
Are impossible to forgive.
And as I reflect
on all my wrongs,
I drown myself in tears.
Now I will die
in this wilderness,
alone with all my fears.
But then I hear
a soothing whisper
that simply says, “I love you.”
I turn my head
and my heart sinks
only to find You.
With arms outstretched
You cry,
“Come My lovely bride.”
Holding me close,
You wipe away every tear
I’ve cried.
“My heart has
pursued you,
even until now.
I will never stop loving you.
To you
I make this vow.”
And as You
speak these words,
it pierces my soul.
This time I’ll give all of me,
my life You’ll get
in full.
*note: To all those who have supported me (whether financially, through prayer or encouragement) THANK YOU! I seriously wouldn’t have made it this far without you! I still need to raise around $500 more dollors but believe it will come in… it should with my monthly supporters! But now I need to raise money to get home. AIM pays for our ticket into the states… we are flying into JFK on November 23rd around 8pm… but I need to find a way to get to ONT on the 24th! The cheapest tickets I could find were $250 and the longer I wait the more expensive they will get (especially since it is so close to Thanksgiving).
